Cochin-Munnar-Thekkady- Cochin


Thekkady is enchanting as the road winds through tranquill countryside, rich plantations & thick jungles. The sanctuary, 60 km from Idukki, 190 km from Cochin and 114 km away from Kottayam is open throughout the year, but the best season for a visit is from September to March. The sanctuary is centered around the large (24 sq km) artificial lake formed by a dam across the Periyar river. It is one of the famous holiday destinations in India. Kumily is 4 km away from Thekkady. Madurai to Kumily is around 120 km (approx 4 hours in state transport bus which are available at Madurai ). One can stay at Kumily as it offers good hotels, shopping market & restaurants.

Itineraries: 

Day 01: Cochin - Munnar

Pick up from Cochin Airport/ Railway station and drive to Munnar. Check in at hotel and after the fresh up you can go to local sightseeing. Overnight stay at resort.

Day 02: Munnar

After breakfast, we proceed on a daylong sightseeing tour of Munnar.
Visit the Eravikulam National Park - home to the endangered mountain goat species, the Nilgiri Tahr, Mattupetty, Eco point. Overnight stay at resort.

Day 03: Munnar - Thekkady

After breakfast proceed to Thekkady. As you wind your way up the road, the wooded terrain clears to reveal a breathtaking spectacle of rolling tea and cardamom plantations. Fill your lungs with fresh mountain air; savour the rich fragrance of cinnamon and cloves. Thekkady is situated 2800 ft above sea level; the climate is pleasantly cool through out the year. Periyar is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary. This is the only wild life sanctuary in India that offers the unique opportunity of viewing wild life in their natural habitat at close quarters. After you can go for a guided spice plantation tour in the afternoon (optional at extra cost). Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 04: Check out from the hotel and drive to Cochin and in time drop at Ernakulam Railway station.
