Kochi formerly known as Cochin, is a city in the Indian state of Kerala. The city is one of the principal seaports of the country and is located in the district of Ernakulam, about 220 kilometres (137 mi) north of the state capital, Thiruvananthapuram. It has an estimated population of 600,000, with an extended metropolitan population of about 1.5 million, making it the largest urban agglomeration and the second largest city in Kerala after the state capital. Itineraries:
Day 01: Cochin
Pick up Cochin Airport/ Railway Station and check in at hotel. After the fresh up you can go to Cochin sightseeing. The main attractions are Jewish synagogue, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, Chinese Fishing nets, Dutch Cemetery, Dutch Palace and the Fort Cochin beach. You can do shopping for silks and handicrafts too. In the evening return to hotel and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02: Cochin - Munnar
After breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Munnar. Check in at hotel and after the fresh up you can go to local sight seeing. Return back to hotel and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 03: Enjoy Munnar's Splendors
After breakfast, we proceed on a daylong sightseeing tour of Munnar. Visit the Eravikulam National Park - home to the endangered mountain goat species, the Nilgiri Tahr. After that you can visit Mattupetty, Devikulam, and Tea plantations. Return back at hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 04: Munnar - Thekkady
After breakfast proceed to Thekkady. As you wind your way up the road, the wooded terrain clears to reveal a breathtaking spectacle of rolling tea and cardamom plantations. Fill your lungs with fresh mountain air; savour the rich fragrance of cinnamon and cloves. Thekkady is situated 2800 ft above sea level; the climate is pleasantly cool through out the year. Periyar is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary. This is the only wild life sanctuary in India that offers the unique opportunity of viewing wild life in their natural habitat at close quarters. After you can go for a guided spice plantation tour in the afternoon (optional at extra cost). Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 05: After breakfast check out from the hotel and in time drop at Ernakulam Railway Station.
